Large Protest – All Clear

At approximately 5:30pm a scheduled protest began in the area of 17th & Market St. in the Rittenhouse Square section of Philadelphia. Philadelphia Police were on site and stayed with the protest as the demonstrators proceeded to march west on Walnut Street to 40th and Market Streets.

Penn Police were on site monitoring as the march approached our campus and continued to monitor the area with Philadelphia Police until the protest concluded at approximately 8:20pm.

Penn Police documented multiple instances of graffiti along the march route and will be investigating to identify the individuals responsible.

Special property checks during Winter Break!

We encourage you to make use of this FREE service to the community! Under the special checks program, DPS officers check the exterior of registered properties for signs of criminal activity or security breaches at peak travel times during Thanksgiving, Spring and Winter Breaks.

WINTER BREAK:

From Thursday, December 19th at 5pm through Tuesday, January 14th, 2020, at 3pm

Deadline to register: Tuesday, December 17th

The program is available without charge to residents in the Penn patrol zone, bounded by 30thStreet west to 43rd Street and from Baltimore Avenue north to Market Street.

Students, faculty and staff who live in the patrol zone are encouraged to register their residence below.  Be sure to list your contact information, other occupants, landlord if applicable, vacancy dates, scheduled repairs, and someone other than a landlord with access or a key to the property.

Penn Police will periodically check the exterior of registered properties, for signs of criminal activity or security breaches during the break. Special checks can not be provided for interior areas of apartment complexes.

Remember to close and lock all doors and windows before you leave, and, arrange for packages to be delivered to a secure location while you are away. There are several options for safe package delivery:  https://www.publicsafety.upenn.edu/packages/
