Celebrating Women’s History Month!
Georgia Ann Robinson (1879-1961): Robinson is believed to be one of America’s first Black female police officers. Throughout her career, she served as an investigator in juvenile and homicide cases. She later established the Sojourner Truth Home, a women’s shelter in Los Angeles, and worked with the NAACP to push for the desegregation of the L.A. school system.
The Division of Public Safety is aware of instances in Philadelphia where dating or other meet-up apps have been used to lure victims in cases of robberies and carjackings. DPS encourages all users of these apps to maintain situational awareness and schedule meetings for public places or areas with good lighting and other customers or pedestrians. Remember, if something feels “off,” trust your instincts and be safe.
As always, we are here for your safety- call DPS 24/7/365 at 215-573-3333.
