Robbery with Weapon

Penn and Philadelphia Police responded to a report of a robbery with weapon in the 3000 block of Market Street. Upon arrival, Police discovered that the suspect pulled over his vehicle and asked to use the complainant’s phone, then he pointed a gun at the complainant, demanding additional personal property. When the complainant attempted to retrieve his phone, the suspect sped away, dragging the complainant for several feet and causing injury.
The suspect is described as a Black male with a thin build and a beard. He was last seen heading west in a gold Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Paige Wigginton is the Director of Special Services within the Division of Public Safety. Special Services is a confidential resource that provides support, options counseling, and medical and court accompaniment to all Penn affiliates. Special Services offers 24/7 on call support, providing critical care to all Penn affiliates for criminal and medical emergencies, Title IX related offenses, and other personal crises. Special Services also specializes in providing tailored Public Safety presentations to the Penn community as well as provides free self-defense courses for all Penn affiliates.

Paige joined the Division of Public Safety in June 2016 as the Associate Director of the office after working in University Life as the Associate Director of Student Intervention Services as well as the College of Arts and Sciences as the Assistant Director of Advising and Academic Services. Paige holds a Doctorate degree in Higher Education from the University of Pennsylvania and has worked in crisis response and support at Penn since 2010.

In her time away from the office, you will find Paige spending time with her wife and family likely at a Phillies game, or finding any excuse to talk about her beloved alma mater the University of Richmond.

 

About Special Services

The Special Services team provides 24/7 support services to members of the Penn community who have experienced any type of crime.  A prominent part of Special Services’ operations is investigation, support, and transparency related to interpersonal violence and sensitive crimes such as rape, sexual assault, relationship or domestic violence, harassment, and stalking. The Special Services team also responds to critical incidents to address and alleviate community distress.
